During the summer of 2002 the Health Finance Forum issued a lengthy white paper based upon a multidisciplinary
study of the financing of not-for-profit hospitals, examining recent trends and addressing expected trends.

James Unland, Editor of the Journal of Health Care Finance, recently had the opportunity to interview
Don Carlson, Senior Managing Director of Ziegler's Capital Markets Group, concerning the study.
